Hardcover Notebook
This matte hardcover notebook features one of my favorite paintings I’ve created, How Could I Ever Encompass It All? The painting’s image is mirrored on the front and back covers, and the notebook is 5.75” x 8” in size. With 150 lined pages, it works wonderfully for daily note-taking, brainstorming, planning, journaling, or whatever else inspires you to write.
How Could I Ever Encompass It All?
After moving to BC in June 2022, so much change happened at once, while deep pause arose simultaneously. I left the only earthly home I ever knew back in Michigan, said goodbye to the studio where my full-time career as an artist began, was newly married to Josh after over a year of long-distance, was navigating the experience of growing new friendships and being in a new church community as an introvert, and putting the majority of my business as an artist to rest as I waited to become a permanent resident of Canada (with the application process alone making my brain SPIN).
But in the midst of great shifting and pause all at once, I was given the time to slowly grieve and seek gratitude through the spectrum of both deep loss and overflowing beauty. I've taken walks among the evergreens and mountains; ran a half marathon in Whistler; made friends who I get to call family; been deeply cared for by our new church; witnessed Josh sing his heart out for Jesus in front of hundreds and thousands of people; laughed hard and cried hard; painted without hurry; and spent time with God, thanking Him for an identity rooted solely in Him as His beloved child above all else.
And yet, these words still feel like a sliver of my experience in Canada thus far. My paintings have helped me express the thoughts, emotions, prayers, longings, and gratitudes within me — but they, too, are just a glimpse. I keep coming back to the reflection I wrote in January, while How Could I Ever Encompass It All? was still an un-named work-in-progress:
Maybe the conversation this painting is carrying me through won't end with something solely definite - instead, unfolding new pondering and questions that stretch outside of these studio walls, creating a web of life beyond us. Maybe there is much to hear, declare, wonder, and reveal in all the glory of the quiet complete / incompleteness of a created work of art that — in its very existence - reflects the unfathomable beauty of the very Creator who made you and I, calling us beautiful, too.
What a sacred truth it is that so much of life, and the creativity outpouring from it, can remain in the wonder of it all — no need for all the answers.
Sometimes our questions are what bring us closer to our Creator, and that is of deeper worth, anyway.
IMPORTANT NOTE for International Shipping
Due to the size of this canvas painting, it will be shipped rolled in a sturdy tube (un-stretched) if purchased for an international address outside of Canada and the US.
This will provide the most safety during travel, as well as the most affordable option for shipping. Once the painting is delivered, you can take it to a local framer to have it re-stretched. I can help you find a framer in your area, if desired! Once the piece is re-stretched, you can hang it as is OR have it framed — both ways work great.
